Task 4a continued...

Do you work within a disciplinary context in the arts? Or is your situation more
transdisciplinary?
I believe that I work within a disciplinary context in the arts.  My skill set is specific to dancing, and through years of training the discipline side of dancing has been key to getting my mind focused and my body prepared.  The discipline of dance will always be something I practice for the foreseeable future.
However I also teach dance and fitness lessons where the lesson plan cannot be set in stone as circumstances around you can change in an instant, this aspect of my life is more transdisciplinary.
What do you know? How do you know it? Make a brief list of your competences and capabilities.
What do I know?
How do I know it?
Dance
Training-first of all locally- then progressed to vocational school
Fitness
Learnt this through connections at vocational school, and then used these contacts to start teaching.  This is an example of my professional community.
Teaching both of the above
I have used my skills and enjoyed the fulfilment of sharing these with people who haven’t had the opportunity to acquire the training I had.

What knowledge and skills do you think you will need for the future?
In order to take my learning to the next level I need to inquire about things that are relevant to me and where I see my professional journey going.  I would love to open a dance school with my sister, and in order for this dream to become reality I need to circulate within a professional community that has experience and achieved this already.  I am also intrigued how my relationship with my sister will change over this new venture...I want to explore how people who co-own a company perceive each other and how the dynamics change.
